LENT(ement)
for anyone who doesn’t know, i’m catholic. and today is ash wednesday, which officially marks the easter advent and blah blah and all which comes down to the core of giving something up. every year, since 7th grade, i’ve given up sweets/desserts. for anyone who doesn’t really know what giving up something on lent entails, it means you deny yourself of something you really enjoy as a form of fasting. and i really enjoy sweets. lots. i have a problem. in the sermon the priest gave this past sunday, he mentioned how you shouldn’t just be giving something up, per say, but also making a change in your life that’s better for you and that you should try to continue post lent. i thought about that a little, and decided to take it up a notch somewhat for lent this year. so besides giving up sweets, i’m also giving up caffeine and chewing gum(which i’ve already been doing for the past two weeks anyway). i’m going to try to fast (fasting = 2 small meals and one 3rd meal no bigger than your two small ones) most days. i’m going to try to at least say one nice thing to someone every day. and… you know all those obnoxious 365 picture challenges people do on facebook? i’m going to (try to) do an obnoxious 40-day picture challenge. but on here instead. because i also want to find one positive thing that’s happened per day. my mom always calls and says ‘what good is happening?’ and i always say nothing. well i’m casting pessimism aside and focusing on positivity this time round. we’ll see how this goeees. 4 notes:
